Gwyneth Paltrow explains why she’s marrying again
Gwyneth Paltrow is many things, but she is not a moron. She’s taken Goop, her lifestyle website into paper copy – a magazine to be exact – at a time when almost universally, companies are moving the other way. So what does a part-time actress, entrepreneur and self-anointed luxury expert gotta do to sell the magazine?
She’s gotta talk about her personal life.
Paltrow, 45, has put herself, and her fiance, producer Brad Falchuk, 46 on the cover of Goop’s second issue in an artful, if sunny black and white shot.
She’s opened up on, not just her decision to marry again, but the reasons she was incapable of being in a relationship before.
“Personally, at midlife, I have tried to accept how complex romantic love can be,” says Paltrow, who was married to Chris Martin from 2003 until 2014.
“I have decided to give it a go again, not only because I believe I have found the man I was meant to be with, but because I have accepted the soul-stretching, pattern-breaking opportunities that (terrifyingly) are made possible by intimacy.”
Falchuk, who has produced, among other shows, Glee, which Paltrow guest-starred on, in 2007, began dating the Oscar-winning actress and entrepreneur publicly in 2015.
Before Falchuk, Paltrow – who has dated Ben Affleck and Luke Wilson and was once engaged to Brad Pitt — says she had two patterns she’d act out in relationships.
“One where I was constantly chasing and trying to win someone over, and one where I was put off by the person’s capacity for the relationship – and those relationships were very short-lived,” she says.
Now, “For the first time, I feel like I’m in an adult relationship that is sometimes very uncomfortable – because he sort of demands a certain level of intimacy and communication that I haven’t been held to before.”
